introduction to emma from summer learning journey

Hi my name is ashton i am 12 years old. I like playing sport my favorite sport is rugby and my second favorite sport is football/soccer. I have one brother he is older then me. I like school because we do heaps of sport and on Tuesdays and Fridays we have something called hurrumanu options where you choose to ether do sport rotation,art or theater sports (acting games). I think i might do the summer learning journey because of all the prizes there are lots of of prizes. if i rate the prizes out of ten i would rate them 10/10.

Book review

Today in class i did a book review on a book i have been reading from the start of this term. Here it is.

Hurumanu rules:

In order to be successful it hurumanu every Monday and Thursday I must:
- Get changed at interval
- Be prepared to learn by having: gear/ Chromebook/ cared attitude
- Give 100% effort in class even if you struggle with the topic
- Remember and implement the CARR values

The Twits

Today i made my own book cover. In it it has both twits and one prank that they have done to each other. Mr twit is eating spaghetti but instead of spaghetti it is worms. and for payback he stretched miss twit.

P.E my game review

So we need to go back to term 3 when me and my team coached Tchoukball. How successful was your sport? My sport was not successful because nobody listened to us. What was your role and how did you contribute to your team? My role was to do a drill with them. Tell us two things that you learnt? I learnt that it is really hard to play. It is hard to play because when someone hits it at the net it is hard to catch it to get a point. And that I need to tell the people that are mucking around to stop and focus.

Day 1 kapa haka

So today period 2 me and a couple of other people went to kapa haka for the first time.
At first it was scary because I thought people would say "Ashton go back to class" but instead they just
stuck with talking to their friends when we went in, we started with a Kara Kia. Then we started with a
warm up song which I knew. Then we went and did a song that i did not know but we went into groups
to learn it we started really shy because we did not know each other. But when we did not look at each
other we were fine. but we got stuck on one of the lines then the teacher came to help us and by the
end we still mumbled for a bit but we got a little bit better but still did not get there. I like it there
because no one makes fun of you and i can sing and when i keep on doing this i think i will be a better
singer.If I rate kapa haka out of 10 it would be an 8 because i want to know the different songs that
they have learnt. And i will be going there next week.   

The twits

today i have to blog about what i have read in the twits book. So here i go.
in the first chapter it talks about people with beards and that it is harder to wash them then it is with our face. then they talk about Mr twits beard he hasn't cleaned it in years . If you look closley youy can see little bits of leftover food. he doesn't keep the big bits of food he wipes that with the back of hit hand or his sleeve. and if you look at his mustache you can see some green cheese a rotten corn flake and other stuff. 

lion facts

Today we had to pick different blog tasks and I choose to research about an animal and the animal that I choose was a lion here are some facts about them. The teachers choose this task on for the different activity's because last term we went to Orana park.   

orana park visit

So on Monday we went to Orana park and we went to see the meerkat  and then we went and saw the reptile house. Then we went and saw the two Kea with these kea there mum layed eggs under the bridge and the keepers came in and took the eggs out and replaced them with dummy eggs so the mum made another nest a few meters away and when the keepers came in she would sit on the dummy eggs an when they go she would sit on the real eggs and one day the keepers came in and heard cheep cheep. Then we saw the spider monkeys but they were inside and wanted to go outside so we just moved on. Then we went and saw the lions and two of them were rubbing there heads together. Then we saw the springbok and one was walking up and down the fence. Then we went to go see the tiger but it was not there. So we went and the spider monkeys were out. then we and saw the Tasman Devil. then it was lunch. Then we saw the Gibbon but we did not really see them because they were hard to see because they were hiding. Then we saw the gorilla's. then we got to feed the giraffe.

P.E

Today in P.E we have to blog about what we have done.
On monday we did beanch ball the people that couched us were Jesse, meleana, nathen, hans, nevaeh, Danielle and cody. The warm up that we did were running from one side to the other side 10 times then we did 40 star jumps and 20 high knees. and the drill that we did was sneak up on granny. The game in genral was fun because we got to verse the yr 8s but before we vsed the yr 8s it was yr 7 bh vs 7 tz tz won in that game. and the yr 8s played at the same time it was 8 bh vs 8 tz 8 bh won that game. then we played yr 7 vs yr 8 the yr 8s won. In P.E maths I learnt how to do perimeters. i felt that the tarsks were really hard for my group. The strategy that i used was timetables and adding. I demostrated this working successfully with others by if i see that they are not getting the ball much and passed it to them.

C.I.P

Today in C.I.P we had to blog our DLO and in this blog post we had to answer these questions.

How are we going to spread our message to the community? we could put this on our Facebook page or put poster about this around Hornby.

Who do you think will get involved? I am not sure I will but hopefully others around the community.

How many kgs do you predict we will collect? probably around 100 or more.

What should we do with money we receive from Terra Cycle? we could use it for a end of year trip.

Ella West visit

So today we had a visit from the Night Vision author and she told us that there are two types of night vision the English version and the Italian version. She got Night vision from a documentary about a child's gens that have gone wrong this is called XP so that is a child that can not be in sun light if she/he is in sunlight she will get blisters on her skin and it will turn into skin cancer. She told us about the start of the book but she did not want to write a story about a kid losing his/her life. So she write that she/he had this gen but she/he witnessed a murder and she was wearing night vision googles but it was not how you thought a murder was like stabbing someone in this murder the person was in a car and it got lite on fire. I would recommend this book to people that like drama and stuff like whats going to happen next. I would like to read this book she made it sound really interesting so i like to read this. The little kid has XP and this is what they have to wear to be in the sun.
 

elderly day care center visit

Today in C.I.P we had to blog about the elderly daycare center visit it was very quiet and the people was just talking amongst them self. We come and share our work with them and talk to them. They did not have eny tech the only thing that was tech was the radio. I showed them my war horse drawing we had to sit at a table and talk about stuff. If we did not know what to say there was a beach ball with questions over it and we asked them and they asked us.

Deforestation

Today we had to blog about Digi tech I did a research chart about deforestation.

I chose deforestation because I like animals and do not want them to get extinct so please stand together and stop deforestation. This is what I did. please leave a comment.

P.E

Today in P.E we practiced our warm up and our drills In our warm up we did two laps around the court then we did lunges from the end of the court to the benches which was about quarter of the court. then we went i n to our drills in the first bit of our drill we just shot it at the target and the others caught the ball and throw it at the target then we lined up and had turns hitting the target. 

Maths

Today we had to write a blog about what we have been dong in maths. So this is what we are doing.

My favorite activity is when we did our mathletics work sheet it was way more funner then online mathletics. The strategies that i have learnt is how to use times tables with arrays. I don't think there was a challenge in maths this term. My goal for multiplication is to know 8s and 4s off by heart.

Good luck All Blacks

Today in C.I.P we had to blog our video that we did last week and here it is good luck all blacks. Before we made this we had to do some research about the All Blacks. We needed to wish them good luck for the world cup. And after we did the video Anton lienert-brown replied to all of our videos with one video. This made me feel exited because an actual All Black replyied to our video,poster or letter. I think this help our community because the people that did noot know about the All Blacks know about them.

Week 1 of PE

In PE today we had to do the beep test and on Monday we did a Fitness Testing. I think that doing fitness tests are good because you can record your fitness from the start of the term to the end of the term. For the Fitness Testing these are my results Name: Ashton Class: bh Vertical Jump M1:1.8 M2: 2.0 Sit and Reach:3.2 Sit Ups:11 Grip Test:0 Beep Test:5.8. the one area that i need to work on is probably the beep test. The way that I will improve is running more. I worked successfully with others by cheering on people that I do not really like. My action and feeling affected others by when I cheered them on they ran faster in the beep test. I helped someone that was struggling by cheering them on.

learning conference slide

For the past few weeks we have been working on our learning conference slide to show my parents here it is.

For art today we had to write our last blog post for this subject. And so I am going to share the stuff that I have done this term.

This is my learning story

First the teacher put us into groups of four and one of us was the group leader. I was the group leader for my group and that means that I have to be learning ready with my Chromebook fully charged and ready. I learnt how to work better in a group and I can understand how my feelings can affect others in my group. When we are finished in what we need to do I know what the next step is. What I enjoyed was that we used our devices for the stop motion and when I am on stop motion I am using it in a safe way. And that we got to make characters with clay and paint a backdrop and that I got paint on me nearly every art period. What I found difficult is that one of the members was at another subject and that we could not do his voice over as it would sound weird we he would come back and it will be a different voice. But when my group had ideas I understand what they were saying.


This is my stop motion
In this stop motion the first scene that kid does not have enough money for the juciey then the kid from the other line notices that he is walking away without any thing so he walks over and asks for two and gives it to him. Then the kid that got the juciey saw that the other kid fell over so he helps him and takes him to the nurse. Then another kid goes to get a juciey and he droped his money and the kid that fell over sees his money drop and he picks it up and brings it to him and they are having a conversation and one is thanking the other.

Kids Can C.I.P

Today in C.I.P we had to chose one out of three and I chose to do this and this is information about Kids Can.
 

RADICAL rainbow

In CIP today we had to recap on what we did last week and here are some questions and answers.
1. What was the planning process? First we chose themes and them we chose starting words for it.
2. How did we come up with the theme? We voted for different titles and we mostly voted for radical rainbow.
3. Who are we fundraising for? We are fundraising for kids can.
4. What do you know about them? I know that  they help kids that do not have food,shoes and other stuff
5. What makes a successful mufti day? Having heaps of people dress up in rainbow.
6. What job did you have/will you have? I had the job of putting out posters.
7. How is this spreading kindness to our community? Because we are helping kids in need.

Today in art we ad to write a story about our project. here it is. please if you have some feedback please leave a comment.

At the start of lunch in the school cafe there was a boy named Ashton. He went to the cash register. Ashton looked around and saw a juicy. Straight away he knew that he needed that. He was sure that his mum gave him money. He asked for a juicy. When he went to go and get a juicy he said “OH NO!”

 He did not have enough money to pay for it and went to go. He thought he had enough money but he did not. Ashton was feeling sad because he did not have enough to buy it. Vin from the other line next to him said to the employee” make that two.”

The employee gave him two and Vin ran to Ashton and gave him the juice. It made a chain and when Jullien needed help Ashton helped him. Then when Zack needed help Jullien helped him. 

Then they all said ”Lets be friends”.

In maths today we had to work on problem solving this is how we got on.

what strategy did your group try? my group tried place value.

What did you find challenging? what I felt challenging was us not know what the other number was.

how well did you group work together? we worked good since we are all friends.

Were you successful? we were successful in one way by working together. Even though we did not get the answer.
