Samoan umu

Today we watched a video about umu a samoan type of hungi. now i have to answer some questions.

what is umu? an umu is the samoan type of hungi but they don't dig in the ground.

what does it need? it needs rocks dried coconut shells bananas banana leaves.

what is it for? it is for a special event like a birthday a wedding a graduation or a funeral.

how are traditional samoan skills taught? from looking at people doing it and figuring it out  how to do it.

Is there something you've experienced similar to an umu? yes i have.

what was it? it was a hungi

where did you experience it? it was at my primary school south hornby school.

what types of things are cooked in an umu? fish, bananas, taro.
